University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), founded in 1891 at Santa Barbara, a seaside resort in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, is a world-renowned top public research university affiliated to the UC system, known as the “Public Ivy School”. The campus is surrounded by the sea on both sides and close to a beach next to the Pacific Ocean. The area around the sea is about 1,000 acres.
